Photo Haiku Wednesday 2.17.10

I love me some Cowboy Poetry and in my opinion there isn’t enough of it! My cowboy and I went to see the SuperBull Series in Grand Rapids last weekend where this cowboy was talking to God a bit before trying for his 8 second ride.

Dirt, dust, spit, snot, sweat, and blood
    Knee bent and humbled

    Forgive me haiku-ists.

I did 7/5/7 instead of 5/7/5. I’m so terribly embarrassed!

    At least for winter

    What am I holding
    Except this pulsing quiet –
    This exploding life?

And of course, the poetry editor stops by. On this day. The day I decide to try this haiku thing. The day I royally screw it up while he laughs from his comfy chair sipping coffee. ;)

A striped feather in his hat.
    Tacky, buckaroo.

    He could bind up more
    with an eight-second prayer than
    all our bullshit faith

    shirt – clean and crisp
    hat – tall and broad
    soul – empty and waiting
after – soiled and wrinkled and flattened and rumpled and filled to the brim with joy
