A New Season

www.silhouettewords.com

Silhouette Words is a creative workspace to develop writing, communication, art and the what-really-matters thought process of life. Everyone is creative to some extent, but many of us would not go through the process of creating and refining a tangible piece of work without there being some type of public outlet where we knew others would see our material. Silhouette is an outlet where we learn by doing; a place to develop our communication skills in various ways, whether by written word or visual expression.

A new start

This is the obligatory new post with very little content. Hopefully content will come...

The Best of...

I received Relief's The Best of Volume 1 about a week ago in the mail and have been working my way through it in a leisurely, not to mention random, manner. Some initial thoughts:

Scars by Fisher is great. I love the intertwining of time periods as well as the commonalty of it. It also contained the most poetic interpretation of divorce I've yet to read: "Putting away," the prophet Malachi calls it, which in many divorces is an excellent description, calling to mind the way you might carelessly reshelf a book after you've laid bare all its secrets, studied all its naked pages, gotten out of it all you wanted.

eh?

seeing as how i already have in the neighborhood of 7 million blogs, maybe an additional one is not necessary.

Christian Fiction and Inspirational Fiction

I recently noticed that a successful (i.e., New York Times Bestselling) author of SF and Vampire stories linked to Coach's Midnight Diner.

It was interesting, though--after quoting Coach's Blurb and giving a pretty accurate picture of the Diner, she followed with the comment:

"...we rarely see a Christian-slanted antho like this, so I thought it would be of interest to the unconventional/inspirational writers out there."

My Ignorance

I think I know,
Because my mind says so,
And with that little I go,
And say much it is I know.

After wandering to and fro,
I see the folly of my ego,
And from the little I know,
This truth my heart speaks so:

With every little I know,
There's so much more that I don’t know...

I would like your opinion

What do you think is the worst sin?
sub question: Is the worst sin the sin itself, or is it the worst because it leads to other sin?

Who do you think depicts this worst sin in fiction?

Joe

Mental Health Awareness

Hi,

If you get a chance pls chk out my blog on www.freewebs.com/pamthepoetess. Perhaps others of you have had similar experiences with family or yourself? Also, some poetry on the Mental Health Awareness page. I and my daughter are survivors of childhood abuse. The Lord has given us the strength to persevere. I need your prayers as I am pretty much well now, but my daughter, 28, continues to struggle and it is exhausting. Thanks.

If you have any comments or thoughts on our broken Mental Health System, pls vent.

Hugs

Pam

Alot of biblical characters had troubles with depression, etc., unfortunately, it is part of the human condition. God teaches alot about rest, eating right, etc. in His Word.

Encouraged to Be An Encourager

In Jill Briscoes book Spirtual Arts: Mastering the Disciplines for a Rich Spirtual Life Briscoe talks about how we need to be encouraged to be an encourager and I believe that is a large part of the reason I write what I do, whether it is fiction or non fiction, because I want to encourage others, I believe that is a large part of my calling as a Christian. I want to offer hope in situations that may seem impossible to get through with some but the fact of the matter is that what is impossible for man, is possible with God.

I pray that I have offered at least a measure of encouragement to the people in my life, though I know there have been times when I have fallen short, times when I have failed, when I have let my flesh get into the way of the working of my Spirit.
